We'll call this a pedestrian compass. It's embedded in the walkway of the lookout vista at Lands End. Most people never see it, because they're looking at the fantastic view of the Golden Gate Bridge -- or their smart phone. ( Located just below the parking lot near the USS San Francisco memorial.)
