This is the 2nd floor of the SF Maritime Museum at Aquatic Park. The building was designed in the 1930's after a great white ocean liner. The 1st floor murals depict a vibrant rainbow of varied fish life below the sea. The 2nd floor featured shipping-related images found above the ocean swells. Sixty years ago this floor was closed to the public. The murals were painted over, wall decorations removed, and flooring covered. It became a utility space. Only in recent years during repair work were clues to the floor's former glory uncovered. After an ambitious restoration effort, the floor was opened to the public in mid-April 2019. (The tiny 3rd floor space featured assorted sea birds found in the sky above the oceans. It remains closed to the public.)

Vintage marine radio display on the second floor.

Just a small taste of the ground floor murals. Really wild stuff.

These stairs lead below the ground floor. I believe there's a commercial kitchen down there. I'm not sure what, if anything, else.

This rounded corner of the building has been carved out as a senior center. That's municipal pier in the background.
