The is Ron Elliott. A 64-year-old retired commercial diver, who for the last 30 years has been diving, solo and without a shark cage, off the Farallon Islands. That's Great White Shark territory, and that's exactly why Ron goes there. He films his encounters with these massive predators, and he's had many. A new short documentary about Ron titled, "Near Miss," was screened one recent night at the Ortega Street Public Library in the Sunset -- within view of the Farallon Islands on a clear day. The filmmaker, Josh Berry, and Ron were there, and did a Q&A session. It was great. So, check out your local library, it can be highly entertaining.
