Our Roots Are Showing.

In recent years, archeologists from the Presidio have been excavating the very foundation of "El Presidio," the original Spanish fort from 1815. The digging has been performed in Pershing Square at the Main Post of the Presidio, SF. They hope to understand the fort's layout and daily usage. American forces would later occupy the fort, until it was badly damaged in the 1906 earthquake.
