Bocce ball was first played in ancient Rome. Bocce volo, a variant, uses an overhand delivery and a metal ball. Often brass. They've been playing for generations in North Beach, including this court in Aquatic Park. I had hoped to get a couple action shots, but players don't start showing up until the afternoon. My kind of sport.
