Kenny Wayne Bowens, "Famous Wayne," is the self-proclaimed shoeshine king of the world. He's been a Market Street fixture for the last 33 years, many of them at the California Street cable car turnaround next to the Embarcadero Hyatt. Wayne's customers have included lawyers, bankers, executives and Secret Service agents from the local field office a few blocks away. An Oakland native, but a San Francisco character.
