This is 45th Avenue and Lincoln, southwest corner of Golden Gate Park. Just a couple blocks from the ocean, it suggests this vibrant blue boat simply washed up in a children's playground. In the past, various colorful sea creatures were painted along the sides of the hull. All kids need is a bigger-than-life piece of reality like this to springboard into their own imaginary worlds. The SF Zoo playground used to have both a retired steam locomotive and cable car. Larsen Park on 19th Avenue went through a procession of retired jet fighters over several generations. This boat is just a stone's throw from the old LIfesaving station, where for decades similar craft were launched into the Pacific to rescue endangered ship passengers.
