"This giant tree is lovingly referred to as "Uncle John's Tree," in honor of the man who built Golden Gate Park, John McLaren. The tree was first lit during the Depression as a gift from the celebrated Scottish botanist to San Franciscans struggling through the hardships."

OK, technically not a Christmas Tree. But the same basic shape, height and location -- this 12' tall gingerbread castle/chateau was featured in the lobby of the St. Francis Hotel.
