Washington High School -- "Wash." My dad said there was so much work available in SF during WWII that he'd cut school after first period and be gone for the day. They eventually told him not to bother coming back. It's not like he was vital to the war effort; I never saw an old b&w photo of my dad and J. Robert Oppenheimer at an equation-filled chalkboard. The punchline? My dad went on to a 33-year-long career in education: including a stint as a truant officer. (Below, a few random local shots from last week.)

After being left empty handed the last two years, Joan of Arc gets a replacement sword. In the interim, it looked like she was trying to get decent cell reception. Joan and her steed also got some anti-pigeon-spikes on their heads. (At the Legion of Honor museum)
