"Mary Cassatt (1844-1926) was the most celebrated woman artist of her time." When just being a woman artist was a celebrated achievement. She lived her adult life in France, and focused on the lives of the upper-middle class Parisian women, their children, and staff.

"Portrait of Mabel..." is in the de Young's permanent collection.

It takes an impressive painting to compete with this frame.
