Stow Lake, like the rest of Golden Gate Park, is completely man-made. It dates to 1893. Pedal boats and row boats are available for rental by the hour. They recently blew up the cafe food options, with "Boats & Breakfast" that includes bacon and eggs. More information at this link: https://stowlakeboathouse.com/
