Worth the admission ($10) to learn the term "Tenderloin" doesn't refer to the seamy underbelly of the city. It refers to the cops being able to enjoy a better cut of meat, courtesy of the payoffs for looking the other way on a wide variety of crimes in this 31- block SF neighborhood.
The surrounding street scene is a war zone. Ironically, the cleanest public restroom in town was inside the museum. They also offer walking tours of this historic neighborhood. Here's their link:
